IDC is nuts

June 5, 2009

I was trying to register an account at IDC to get some info… but does IDC expect its users to be Oracle Database Experts in order to create an account ?

Apparently so.

IDC may still be working pre-dotCom mode…

Even more strange… they even provide an option to declare that You are not You !

What on Earth are they thinking ? Is the Logout button not enough ?

[Ridiculous Monday] Old Singapore Webpage

September 22, 2008

Did you notice that in order to have “the latest news in Singapore”; you have to tell the website:

  1. Your Birthday
  2. Your HOUSEHOLD income
  3. Your Profession (19 choices)
  4. Your Interests in Singapore (which is by the way restricted to only 6… Travel, Study, Investment, Career, Entertainment or Arts)

Better still… “Best viewed using Internet Explorer 5.0 or Netscape 4.0 and above, with 800×600 screen resolution.

Oh my goodness !!! How backward is that ? Is that representative of Singapore who is hosting the first Formula One Night Race (which is another ridiculous event with super powerful, energy sucking lamps making the area brighter than noon time…)

Look at the sample Newsletter at
http://www.sg/newsletter/newsletter.htm

My goodness Tuesday, 07-11-2006 !!! 7th Nov 2006 ???

By the way…I am not kidding… we are warming up the world !

The Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore is fitted with nearly 1,500 lighting projectors, illuminating the 5.067km track with light that is four times brighter than a football stadium at night.

The lighting provides 3000 lux of light (light intensity), compared to 800 lux for football stadium and 30 lux for street lighting

How I warm up my toast… with my power adapter

September 18, 2008

image
After 30 mins of surfing the web, my power adapter is hot enough to be used for warming my toast.

That huge heat sink is a spare from my previous monster PC setup and works mighty fine.

The power adaptors seem to suck more power; they started from 65 watts and grew to today’s 90 watts in some “performance” laptops.

I guess I contributed to the melting of the polar ice-caps from my home.

Rick Astley circa 1988

June 29, 2008

Before there was a Internet, there was Rick Astley ! In a classic cassette tape !

Now he is back ! And he started a new craze ! Rick Rolling ! In those days, they provided full lyrics and you can learn your English using Rick (although I personally find his pronunciation pretty bad for a British chap !

Now the record companies are afraid of everything, even lyrics are banned on some albums. Nuts !

Beautiful Hazy Day in KLCC (Day Trip) Part II

June 29, 2008

IMG_0938Here’s the exchange rate in KLCC
IMG_0940I was impressed with the queuing system on the PUTRA Line. No one is blocking the entrance and orderly passengers makes everyone happy.
IMG_0942On my way to KL Sentral !

Video Link Putra Line Masjid Jamek to Pasar Seni (somehow WordPress do not allow embedded tags/scripts, which I find very stupid!)

IMG_0943IMG_0945
At KL Sentral I saw some really unique entertainment from long ago which still exist now. Telling Fortune in Malay too !
IMG_0946At KL Sentral, no worries with Madam around !

IMG_0947On the KLIA Ekspres (also known as the ERL or Express Rail Link). Nice clean loo !
IMG_0948I am not suppose to eat, but I was hungry after talking for almost 2 hours and had a little lunch, did a tonne of work. So I sat at the last carriage and dig into my Corn In Cup (bought from KL Sentral) ! There was one other passenger, he didn’t complain at all. I think it was because I finished the cup of corn (steam corn+salt+butter) in 10 seconds.

Beautiful Hazy Day in KLCC (Day Trip) Part I

June 27, 2008

Today I have a successful presentation at Taman Tun Dr Ismail and had some time off to meet my cousin at nearby KLCC.

On my way back to office… level 29 ! That’s where the bottom of the left bridge support is ! Tower 2.

Nope! Those people are not playing dead but trying to capture the height of the juggernaut towers.
